- For this assessment croterion, you will be required to demonstrate that you are able to support children’s early interest and development in mark-making, writing, reading and being and being read to
- This can help them to develop their emergent literacy skills and help to prepare them for school
- There are several ways that you could achieve this including:
- Offering to read to children and asking them if they recognise any words
- Providing easily accessible resources such as pens, pencils, erasers, paints, chalk etc.
- Providing easily accessible books and other reading materials
- Modeling actions such as reading and writing
- Using positive reinforcement
- Providing books for children to take home (e.g. a lending library)
- Reading books as part of a group activity (e.g. carpet time for older children etc.)
