- All children learn at different rates
- In addition, some children may have additional needs (e.g. a physical disability or learning disability) that can affect their learning and development
- A difficulty in one area of development can affect other areas of development
- E.g. if a child has autism and prefers to spend time alone, this can affect their language development because they will have less interaction with others
- E.g. if a child has a physical disability and is dependent on others, this can affect their confidence and emotional development
- A child’s well-being can also affect their learning and development
- E.g. a child that has been neglected may not have had opportunities for social and emotional development
- Individual circumstances may also affect a child’s learning and development
- E.g. if a child lives in a high-rise flat, they may not have as many opportunities for outdoor physical activities
