- There are several ways that we may support the dietary preferences of individuals with autism whilst ensuring that they still maintain a well-balanced diet
- Respect an individual’s right to choose what they eat
- Encourage the individual to try small amounts of new and different foods
- Introduce new foods that are very similar in colour, texture etc. to foods that they already enjoy
- Maintain a relaxed and comfortable eating environment
- Explain the benefits of having a varied and well-balanced diet
- Support the individual to prepare and cook food in line with their preferences
