- Transactional analysis
- ‘Communicators’ continuously and simultaneously send messages to one another
- E.g. Person 1 sends a message about how they are feeling by talking and person 2 sends a message that they understand and are empathetic by paying attention and nodding
- Laswell’s model
- Only concerned with the message being sent from the sender
- Feedback from the receiver is not taken into account
- Five key components of communication: who sends ithe message the content of the message, the media channel that is used (e.g. speech, television etc.), who receives the message, the effect of the message
