• To incorporate the preferences and needs of individuals when providing support, we should:
  • Get to know the individual and take a genuine interest in them
  • Ensure the individual has the opportunity to participate in their care planning and that their views and preferences are included in their care plan
  • Ensure that you work in partnership with relevant others, such as family, carers and advocates
  • Try to incorporate the individual’s interests into learning new skills (e.g. if an individual likes Disney films, you may plan to bake cakes with Disney characters on the top)
