Unit 391 Developing practice leadership skills

This unit is one of the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care Optional Units and has the following learning outcomes and assessment criteria:

1. 1 Understand the role of a practice leader in a service
   1. 1.1 Describe how the components of a practice leaders’ skills contribute to the effective working of others in a chosen area
   2. 1.2 Describe how practice leaders contribute to supporting: 1.2 A individuals 1.2 B others
   3. 1.3 Explain areas of responsibility in which a practice leader can work in own setting
   4. 1.4 Explain how assessing performance and quality of care delivery contributes to individuals’ experience.
2. 2 Be able to coach and mentor others
   1. 2.1 Outline the skills and knowledge needed to coach others
   2. 2.2 Outline the skills and knowledge required to mentor others
   3. 2.3 Demonstrate mentoring of others in own chosen area
   4. 2.4 Demonstrate coaching of others in own chosen area
3. 3 Be able to give constructive feedback to others
   1. 3.1 Explain how to give constructive feedback to others in own chosen area

4. 4 Be able to reflect on practice
   1. 4.1 Explain the cyclical process of reflection
   2. 4.2 Explain the importance of reflective practice in continuously improving the quality of service provided in chosen area
