• The EYFS splits learning and development for children in Early Years settings into seven areas
• The three prime areas are:
  • communication and language
  • physical development
  • personal, social and emotional development
• In addition, the four specific areas are:
  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design
• It is recommended that you read the descriptions of each of these areas as well as the related Early Learning Goals (ELGs) in the EYFS
• All planning should align with the areas of development specified in the EYFS and the Early Learning Goals
