- The EYFS splits learning and development for children in Early Years settings into seven areas
- The three prime areas are:
- communication and language
- physical development
- personal, social and emotional development
- In addition, the four specific areas are:
- literacy
- mathematics
- understanding the world
- expressive arts and design
- It is recommended that you read the descriptions of each of these areas as well as the related Early Learning Goals (ELGs) in the EYFS
- All planning should align with the areas of development specified in the EYFS and the Early Learning Goals
