• Supporting children’s emergent literacy can benefit their holistic learning and development
• This means that a child’s emergent literacy can support their learning and development in other areas
• E.g. holding a pen or paintbrush can support a child’s development of fine motor skills
• E.g. communication and interaction can support a child’s personal, social andemotional development
• E.g. reading about different subjects and experiences can support a child’s understanding of the world around them
• E.g. being able to write numbers can support a child’s mathematical development
