- For this assessment criteria (and as part of the whole learning outcome), you will be required to carry out your own longitudinal study using methods of observation to assess the changing developmental needs of children
- Your longitudinal study should be performed on one child in a real early years setting and focus on one area of development
- Your longitudinal study should be carried out over a time period of at least six weeks
- You will need to obtain permission from your supervisor/manager and the child’s parents/carers
- You will need to use a range of observation methods
- You may find it useful to seek advice from your supervisor/manager and tutor about which children and area of development would be most suitable for your longitudinal study
