- Objectivity is important when recording observations because:
- It provides an accurate, factual and true record
- It reduces bias and prejudice
- It ensures a complete picture of the child
- It is important to understand that we all have biases and prejudices and we should practice objectivity to reduce the likelihood of them influencing our observations
- E.g. familiarity or fondness of a child, opinions of others and our own opinions, values and beliefs could cloud our judgment
