- Similar to Hersey & Blanchard’s model, Fiedler’s Contingency Theory postulates that no single leadership style is effective in all situations and that a great leader will adapt their style of leadership to address different situations
- For example, a manager may begin a team meeting using a democratic leadership style whereby every team member can voice their opinions, but if a group decision cannot be made, the manager may resort to making the decision themselves, which is a more autocratic style
- For example, a manager may be more understanding and empathetic of an employee being late to work if they know that they are going through some personal issues
