• Everyone has a duty to safeguard children including adult care workers, friends, family and visitors
• Suspicions or disclosures of abuse must be reported to your manager or safeguarding lead
• If a disclosure, reassure the child and ensure their immediate safety
• Do not ask leading questions as this could impede a future criminal investigation
• Make a written record of what has happened
• Your manager/safeguarding lead must investigate the claim and inform relevant agencies (e.g. social services, police etc.)
