• Ways in which an individual or their family can be helped to understand their autistic spectrum condition include:
  • Being clear that there is no cure
  • Presenting information in a way that meets their unique communication and data-processing needs
  • Explaining that it is a spectrum condition and can affect different people in different ways
  • Provision of resources, such as leaflets, books and websites
  • Highlighting strengths as well as areas where support may be needed
