Assessment criteria: 4.2 Work with others to assess potential risks

  • When hazards or risks have been identified, you should work with others to assess those risks
  • You should assess the likelihood of the risk occurring, who it will affect and what the potential consequences may be
  • This should be balanced against the positive outcomes for taking the risk (e.g. increased independence or improved wellbeing of service users etc.)
  • Others can include the service user, their family, your colleagues and your manager
