Learning outcome: Be able to develop a support plan to meet the identified needs of an individual
Assessment criteria: 2.4 Assist an individual to understand the risks associated with the choices they make in their support plan

  • Individuals should be fully informed of the risks associated with any choice that they make
  • You should support individuals to minimise the risks as much as possible
  • E.g. an elderly individual that has recently been hospitalised after falling down the stairs may decline the offer of living in a flat or a bungalow, preferring to live in the two-storey house that they have resided in for most of their lives. Risk could be mitigated through the use of handrails, bannisters or a stair lift.
