  • Care Act 2014 – local authorities must carry out holistic assessments for individuals that may require care/support with a focus on well-being
  • Equality Act 2010 – individuals cannot be discriminated against based on age, gender, disability, race, religion, sexuality, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, maternity/pregnancy
  • Human Rights Act 1998 – sets out the basic rights and freedoms of all citizens
  • Mental Capacity Act 2005 – it should be assumed that all individuals are able to make their own decisions and every effort must be made to ensure that they can do this
