Equality and diversity in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

This unit is part of the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care and has the following learning outcomes and assessment criteria:

  1. Understand equality, diversity and inclusion
    1. 1.1 Summarise current legislation relating to equality
    2. 1.2 Evaluate how legislation, codes of practice and policies and procedures relating to equality, diversity and inclusion apply to own work role
    3. 1.3 Explain the impact on own practice of: a. equality, b. diversity, c. inclusion
    4. 1.4 Analyse how barriers to equality impact on individuals
    5. 1.5 Explain the attitudes that may lead to discriminatory behaviour
  2. Understand how inclusive practice supports equality and diversity
    1. 2.1 Explain how inclusive practice promotes equality and supports diversity
    2. 2.2 Analyse how inclusive practice respects the individual’s beliefs, culture, values, preferences and life experience
    3. 2.3 Evaluate principles of inclusive practice
  3. Understand how to promote equality, diversity and inclusion
    1. 3.1 Explain how to challenge discrimination to promote change
    2. 3.2 Explain how to support others to promote equality, diversity and inclusion
    3. 3.3 Evaluate current systems and processes to identify improvements which support equality, diversity and inclusion
  4. Be able to work in a way that supports equality, diversity and inclusion
    1. 4.1 Use person-centred approaches to support equality and diversity
    2. 4.2 Work with others to promote equality and diversity
    3. 4.3 Challenge discrimination to promote change
    4. 4.4 Access resources to support equality and diversity practice
    5. 4.5 Disseminate information to others relating to equality and diversity
    6. 4.6 Reflect on own practice in relation to equality and diversity
    7. 4.7 Model behavior that promotes equality, diversity and inclusion
