  • Independent advocacy is a service that is used to help individuals voice their needs and concerns if they are unable to do so themselves
  • Is also used to promote and uphold their rights and make their own choices
  • May be needed if an individual does not know how to express their wishes (e.g. due to autism etc.), is unable to understand information they are provided with (e.g. due to a learning disability or dementia etc.) or does not feel confident enough to speak up for themselves
