  • The legal context of equality and diversity:
    • Set out in the Equality Act 2010
    • Individuals cannot be treated unfairly based on nine protected characteristics; race, religion, gender, gender reassignment, age, disability, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity and sexual orientation
    • Also the Human Rights Act 1998 sets out the liberties and freedoms that all people must have
  • The effects of discrimination:
