Assessment criteria: 2.1 Explain the role, remit and responsibility of the Registered Manager

  • Under Regulation 7 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 Registered Manager must:
    • Be of good character
    • Have the necessary skills, qualifications, competence and experience
    • Have reasonable physical mental health to carry out the role
  • Their role, responsibilities and remit include:
    • Ensuring their organisation complies with legislation, regulation and best practices
    • Leading and governing their organisation appropriately
    • Being a key contact for the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
    • Overseeing day-to-day management and operations
    • Leading strategic planning
    • Delivering the long-term vision of the service
