Qualification: Level 4 Certificate in Principles of Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF)
Unit: Unit 2: Team Leadership in Adult Care
Learning outcome: 1 Understand team leadership in adult care
Assessment criteria: 1.2 Explain why individuals, their families and carers may be regarded as members of a team
- It is a requirement that regulated health and care organisations take a person-centred approach to care planning and delivery
- This means that the individual receiving care should be involved in the process as much as possible
- Therefore, it is essential that clients are treated as equal members of the team when their care is being discussed, planned and executed
- Similarly, as long as the client agrees, their family and carers should also be considered equal team members
- The individual and their family/carers will have expert knowledge about the individual’s specific needs, wishes and preferences, which supports the provision of the best possible care for them
