Unit 2: Team Leadership in Adult Care

This unit is part of the Level 4 Certificate in Principles of Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF) and has the following learning outcomes and assessment criteria:

  1. 1 Understand team leadership in adult care
    1. 1.1 Explain what constitutes a team in an adult care setting and the different roles within the team
    2. 1.2 Explain why individuals, their families and carers may be regarded as members of a team
    3. 1.3 Analyse the key features of effective team leadership and how it might be adapted for different teams.
    4. 1.4 Explain the importance of establishing a values-based, shared vision within your team
    5. 1.5 Evaluate strategies for establishing a valuesbased culture and building commitment to the values-based vision for the service
    6. 1.6 Describe how to establish a culture of continual learning and development in the team
  2. 2 Understand team development in adult care
    1. 2.1 Analyse patterns and stages in team development
    2. 2.2 Evaluate methods of establishing trust, accountability and effective relationships within the team
    3. 2.3 Explain the importance of encouraging all team members to share skills, knowledge and ideas
    4. 2.4 Outline areas of support individuals, their families and carers may need to be effective members of the team #
    5. 2.5 Explain how you might develop an agreed shared approach to problem-solving for your organisation
    6. 2.6 Explain different ways to evaluate the effectiveness of team performance
    7. 2.7 Describe ways to develop the team to address challenges that arise
    8. 2.8 Evaluate strategies for maintaining wellbeing, reducing stress and building the resilience of team members, including lone workers
