• Restrictive practices are practices which restrict the rights or the freedom of movement of a person
• Restraint is a method of restricting an individual’s freedom of movement
• Hidden restraint is a method of restraint that is not immediately recognisable
• An individual being afraid to move for fear of reprisals or an individual that is being covertly sedated are examples of hidden restraint
