Unit 10: Professional Development in Adult Care

This unit is part of the Level 4 Certificate in Principles of Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF) and has the following learning outcomes and assessment criteria:

  1. 1 Understand professional development in adult care
    1. 1.1 Justify the importance of continually improving own knowledge and practice and that of the team
    2. 1.2 Explain potential challenges and constraints in relation to professional development in adult care
    3. 1.3 Evaluate how sources and systems of support assist in professional development
    4. 1.4 Explain the importance of personal development plans
    5. 1.5 Explain the manager’s responsibility to support the development of the adult care workforce through a range of mechanisms and resources that support learning and development
    6. 1.6 Outline a range of different learning styles
    7. 1.7 Explain ways to ensure team members can apply new learning to practice and share learning with the team
    8. 1.8 Explain how to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of learning opportunities in improving the service
  2. 2 Understand the value of literacy, numeracy and digital skills
    1. 2.1 Assess the importance of literacy, numeracy and digital skills across the range of roles in adult care
    2. 2.2 Explain how to support team members to: assess their own level of attainment in literacy, numeracy and digital skills, access support for further development
