• We previously looked at the interdependencies between leadership and management and saw that both skill sets are needed for an organisation to be successful
• Therefore, managers in adult care settings require both leadership and management skills
• Leadership skills are required to ensure that the organisation:
  • changes and innovates in relation to market conditions
  • has a strategic vision and direction
  • inspires others to ‘buy-in’ to the organisational culture and values
• Management skills are required to ensure that an organisation:
  • works towards its vision
  • fulfils its day-to-day obligations and operations
  • has systems and processes in place for efficiency and consistency
  • has the right amount of resources available when needed
  • complies with legislation, regulation and best practices
