  • Person-centred values should always be used, even when situations are complex or sensitive
  • A sensitive situation may be if an individual has lost control of their bladder function and has been wtting themselves. They may be embarrassed and upset and so you would need to demonstrate sensitivity and compassion to help them to maintain their dignity
  • A complex situation might be if an individual has a learning disability or other condition that impairs cognitive ability. You would want to ensure that you provide them with information and the means to be able to continue to make informed choices for themselves, rather than assuming their decision.
