  • The communication methods and styles that you use will depend on your role and the needs of the individuals that you communicate with
  • Some examples include:
    • Speaking to an individual with a brain injury in short sentences consisting of 2-3 keywords and ensuring they have time to process the information
    • Ensuring an individual with a hearing impairment can see your lips whilst speaking
    • Using Makaton to communicate with an individual with a learning disability
    • Using industry-specific jargon and abbreviations when speaking to a fellow healthcare professional
