- When planning for the next steps of a child’s development, it is important for a practioner to involve others
- ‘Others’ could include co-workers, the child’s parents/carers and other health professionals such as speech and language therapists
- E.g. if a practitioner plans to introduce cutlery to a child, they would discuss this with the parent/carer so that cutlery can also be introduced for meals at home
- E.g. if a child has a physical disability, the practitioner may discuss the use of cutlery with an occupational therapist who may recommend specialist cutlery that should be used
- E.g. if a practitioner observes a child taking cutlery from another child during lunchtime, they would report this to the child’s key person as evidence that the child may be ready to use cutlery
