• Assessment involves monitoring and recording each child’s progress towards Early Learning Goals, as well as their general development as specified in the EYFS
• It can be used to identify areas where the child is strong as well as areas where they may need additional support to develop and can help with planning their next steps
• Strategies for assessment can include:
  • Observations from practitioners and parents/carers
  • Discussions with children
  • Group discussions between practitioners
