  • Some of the factors that may affect a child’s ‘school readiness‘ include:
    • Special Educational Needs that affect an area of a child’s development
    • Child’s age – younger 5-year olds will have had less opportunities for development before starting school
    • Exposure to early year’s setting – regular attendance of early years setting will result in children having a lot of develoment experiences that can help prepare children for school
    • Planning and preparation – children that have had opportunities to prepare for school, (e.g. discussing potential feelings with adults and peers, visits to school setting etc.) will have more of an idea about what to expect
    • Home-life – a child’s home life can affect their confidence and attitude towards school
