- You should try to ensure that all children are included and provide praise, encouragement and support
- You should be flexible, allowing children to take the activity in a different direction than what you had planned
- Children should be observed and given support where required but also given the opportunity to solve problems independently
- Other practitioners should understand the learning goals of the activity
- Resources should be prepared prior to the activity
