  • Practitionersshould encourage parents and carers to take an active role in their child’s play, learning and development by:
    • Explaining the important of interaction and communication
    • Suggesting activities in line with the child’s age, stage of development and interests (e.g. reading, songs, rhymes, word/sound games, mark-making etc.)
    • Offering resources, such as books, that the child can take home and read with parents
    • Chit chat – any conversation or discussion can support a child’s learning
