• When planning for children’s participation in activities which support and extend emergent literacy, one of the key considerations will be the age and stage of development of the children (stages of language and communication can be found here)
• Another consideration will be the things that the children are currently interested in
• Some activities that you may consider include:
  • Nursery rhymes and song
  • Mark-making and writing activities
  • Reading books and discussion
  • Word and sound games
