• The EYFS states that: “The development of children’s artistic and cultural awareness supports their imagination and creativity”
• Opportunities that encourage expressive art and design in children include:
  • Making and playing with musical instruments (e.g. shakers etc.)
  • Mark-making with a variety of tools (e.g. pens, brushes, stamps etc.)
  • Dancing and other types of expressive movement
  • Sensory play (e.g. slime, sand, water, clay etc.)
  • Crafts (e.g. collage-making, plasticine models etc.)
