- Group learning refers to play activities in which children learn together as part of a group
- This is effective for older children who are are learning to play alongside one another and play cooperatively together as they develop their social skills
- Younger children will not show as much interest in playing with their peers and may not have the attention span to focus on the play activity
- Socialisation refers to the skills, behaviours and values that children develop to enable them to interact and mix with others and behave in a way that is socially acceptable
- Therefore, the practitioner must take the age and social development of children into account when planning activities
- Group learning activities can include reading a book together and discussing it, arts and crafts, sensory play and role play.
