- Following a planned play opportunity, practitioners should reflect on how it relates to the EYFS curriculum
- This means assessing if the activity faciltated the intended learning of the early years curriculum that was identified in the planning stage
- The activity may also have supported additional learning in other areas of the curriculum that were not originally predicted
- A single activity can link to many different areas of learning (e.g. communication & language, physical development, personal/social/emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, expressive arts and design)
- For example, when baking a cake, there could be elements of:
- Communication & language – following an adults instructions, asking questions
- Physical development – fine motor skills when measuring ingredients
- Mathematics – measuring ingredients
