- For this assessment criterion, you will be required to critically evaluate the provision for children with additional needs within your own setting
- This means exploring the strengths and areas for possible improvement in your particular setting
- Areas you may wish to consider include:
- Policies and procedures (e.g. are there provisions to ensure that all children are included, what is the procedure after a developmental need has been identified? etc.)
- Partnership working (e.g. do practitioners have strong relationships and work effectively with parents/carer and healthcare professionals?)
- Planning and implementation (e.g. how are activity plans devised, implemented and recorded for children with additional needs?)
- Support for family – (e.g. do practitioners support families by providing a sensitive ear and signposting them to support networks?)
- Record-keeping (e.g. does the setting have suitable systems for the recording and retrieval of information about children with additional needs?)
