  • Having planned an activity that promotes a child’s personal, social and emotional development, you will now be required to implement your plan
  • 0 to 1 year, 11 months – the child should not be tired and there should be no distractions in the environment. The practitioner should use a soft and calming voice tone, maintain eye contact and use positive facial expressions andbody language. Positive interaction is essential for building the relationship.
  • 2 to 2 years, 11 months – activity should be child-led as children in thisage range will often change their fous and attention. The practitioner must be patient and flexible in their approach and ensure the childhas plenty of choice. Attempts at trying new things and developing independence should be praised and encouraged.
  • 3 to 5 years – discussion, particularly about feelings, should be encouraged. The practitioner should acknowledge, affirm and praise contributions by children and promote sharing and other functions of cooperative play.
