  • For this assessment criterion, you will need to plan anopportunity that promotes the personal, social and emotional development of children in various age groups.
  • Some ideas for activities that you may wish to consider are:
    • 0 to 1 year, 11 months – should focus on building the relationship between child and practitioner (peek-a-boo, mirrors, hiding/reappearing objects etc.)
    • 2 to 2 years, 11 months – should be active and not require the child to sit still for long periods, also should be one-on-one or small groups (sensory play such as slime/sand/water, roleplay/small world play so that child can express themselves and begin to understand the feelings of others etc.)
    • 3 to 5 years – children may work in larger groups as they begin to develop the skills for cooperative play and may sit still for longer (reading books and discussing the character’s feelings, baking together, arts and crafts, playground games such as hopscotch etc.)
