  • One of the roles of the Early Years Practitioner is to support the development of speech, language and communication in children, as outlined by the EYFS
  • This can include:
    • Role modeling
    • Providing opportunities and activities for a children to communicate
    • Speaking clearly and in an age-appropriate way and maintaining level eye contact
    • Using appropriate gestures, body language and facial expressions
    • Accommodating the communication needs of children with SEND
    • Taking into account the interests of children and ensuring that activities are enjoyable
    • Using active listening, mirroring and echoing techniques
    • Being positive
