- Some examples of how technology (such as tablets, computers and phones) can support the development of a child’s speech, language and communication include:
- Reading books – some books may be interactive
- Watching television programs and movies
- Play learning games, such as matching words with pictures
- Look at photographs/videos – this should also involve discussion with others about what is being seen
- Recording devices – to record and play back speech
- It is important for Early Years Practitioners to understand that technology should be used appropriately and too much screen time can be harmful to a child’s development
