- Play is necessary for the development of children in many different areas
- Physical development – gross and fine motor skills, physical exercise, coordination, stamina, dexterity etc.
- Social development – communicating with others, sharing, taking turns, enjoying the company of others, working together, conflict management etc.
- Emotional development – derives pleasure, develops empathy and compassion, roleplaying, expression of emotions etc.
- Cognitive devlopment – problem solving, exploration, learn the properties of objects and their environment etc.
- Language development – reciting things that they have heard, giving and recieving instructions, acting out scenarios etc.
